PUBLIC MEETINGS

How Can We Bring Excellence Back into our Schools?

How can we make sure that each of our children is equipped with the skills to graduate and go to college or trade school? How do we provide our children with the skills they need not only to meet state performance standards but to be successful? How can we save our schools?

Starting with the basics we will determine what our needs are and how much money is coming into the district. Using that as a baseline we will determine how we can best meet those needs. In addition to the money available to us from public sources, perhaps we can reach out to philanthropists to raise private money, too. Perhaps there are other options to explore.

We must work together! As parents, educators and community leaders, let us work as partners to create the brightest futures for our children. Please join us at any of the public meetings we are holding to discuss your hopes, your ideas, the possibilities, opportunities to succeed and the tough decisions that we face ahead. Everyone has an interest in the future success of our children, and we want to hear from you!

Additional meetings will be scheduled soon for the community to learn more from the district’s Chief Recovery Officer, Joe Watkins, and to offer their ideas about the challenges we are facing. He will discuss the financial and academic recovery declaration as well as explain the procedure for developing and implementing a financial and academic recovery plan. All members of the community are encouraged to attend any of these forums.
